Jumbuck
Wines was formed in 2004 by Sam & Christina Holmes as a
second label to their single vineyard Henry Holmes range.
The
name for our wine Jumbuck is the aboriginal translation for
a sheep, with the link coming from the Holmes families’
property in the Barossa Valley that has an award winning White
Suffolk sheep stud along side the vineyards.
The
label is not restricted to our vineyards in the Barossa Valley
and has been specifically designed to take advantage of finding
unique parcels of wine from all the South Australian wine regions.
The
first release is a 2004 Cabernet Merlot from the Limestone Coast
region; grown by the Hooper family a third generation family
owned and managed property in the Wrattonbully sub region. The
wine was then crafted by legendary wine maker Robin Day, spending
20 months in French oak and is a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon
with the Merlot bringing softness and balance to the Cabernets
intense flavours and tannin structure.
“Jumbuck
Cabernet Merlot is a velvety blend of two
complimentary varieties. Full of rich berry fruits and
a smooth generous finish, ideal with lamb”.
