- Woodbridge
Stud was founded in 1988 by using ten South Suffolk ewes (inherited
from my father) as a base and purchasing an Anna Villa White Suffolk
ram.
Currently
running 80 breeding ewes. Retained ewes are chosen for their ability
to reproduce and raise correct, fast-growing lambs. Lambplan indexes
are an additional selection tool, but not the focus.
- Artificial
insemination has been used since 1997, to source superior genetics.
- Outstanding Sires used in our ’07 ’08 and '09 breeding programs are Woodbridge 03/0896 (ERROL), producing white, correct lambs with great width and length of loin. Woodbridge 05/90 (E.J.), now listed in the Lambplan Elites and with 14.75 PWWT. Illoura 050293, an early growth sire with PEMD 1.47, Hillcroft Farms 060077 PD. Carcase+ 209.22 and PEMD 3.89 Bundara Downs 064398, Champion Ram, Royal Adelaide Show more details
- We are proud of our results at various shows and especially with our Adelaide Royal Reserve Champion Ram and with our Champion Ram and Surpreme Shortwool Ram at 2009 Hamilton Sheepvention.
- Woodbridge is Johne's MN3 and Vaccinated (S42V) and accredited Brucellosis Free (970).
- Gomersal,
the Barossa home of Woodbridge, with its harsh summers and often only
6 months of green-feed, has been described as some of the healthiest
sheep-growing country in Australia. Faecal worm counts has always tested
'zero' and mineral deficiencies are never a problem.
